Bessemer was a punk rock band started by 4 punk rock outcasts at Marquette University in 1995. Members included Dan Friel (bass), Brett (drums), Mark (Roman) Moroni (guitar & vocals), and Paul Fruzyna (guitar & vocals). The band started when Friel and Brett asked Fruzyna to start a band. The three got together and started to rock out. They knew the band was missing something so they started the search for a singer. Fruzyna knew of another punk rocker at Marquette named Andrew (Z) Ziola and asked him if he would be interested in singing. Z said he wasn't a good singer and that Roman would probably play guitar for the band. They got together and they all knew it was meant to be. The following couple of years was filled with good time and great punk rock. Playing gigs at the Rave Bar, The Globe, in Freeport IL, and at various half barrel parties across the campus was the way of life.
